What is Thescon ?

Thescon is a theater arts competition that many JRT troupes partake in. Every year we encourage DSA JRT members to participate in the competitive element by performing an individual event or IE. If you choose to do an IE you have many categories as options. These include: Individual Song, Duet Song, Duet Performance.  As well as performing, you also have the opportunity to learn from professionals that are located in the denver metro area.  These workshops rang from stage makeup to combat, to rope tying and anything theater related in between.

THESPIAN CONVENTION

Believe it or not ThesCon (as we call it for short) is fast approaching! If your child is attending their teachers have been notified that they will be gone ALL DAY on Thursday, Dec 4 - BUT it is their responsibility to touch base with them about the work they will miss and any homework that they are still held accountable for.

We will go over specifics at the meeting during lunch on Wed Dec 3 - BUT please remember that you are responsible for your child's transportation to the Convention Center downtown (drop off by the Blue Bear entrance to the center).  You should arrive by 8am and pick up your child by 3:45pm.  Students should BRING MONEY for LUNCH - Chaperones will be taking their groups to 16th St Mall to get food!  Each child is with a Chaperone at all times during the conference - we run a tight ship to keep things fun but orderly.  If you child has any special dietary needs/allergies please let Mr. Becker know asap.

ALL IE Participants: Remember that all students doing an IE must attend a Mandatory IE Workshop.  You MUST be seen by Mr. Becker or they may not perform at the conference.

Musical Groups/Solos:  MUST bring their music to their workshop AND email it to Mr. Becker.  They should have it on their phone AND email it to Mr. Becker - and  can also have it on a disc.  This is your safeguard against the music not working at the convention.  They MAY NOT sing it acapella for either the workshop or the conference.

EVERYONE must follow this introduction that you say before you do your piece (if you are doing an IE):

"Hello I'm _____________ (if more than one person you all day your names here), from Troupe 88486 and today I/we will be doing (Song or Title of Play) by (Author). "

At the end of your piece you must hold the moment for 2-3 seconds and then say "Thank you".

The following are dates/times you may come to the L Studio/Vocal Room area - you may choose WHEN but you MUST do it at some point during these dates/times.

If you are on the list below I still need to see your IE.
